Belinda McKinnis and Shaun Rietdyk had almost given up on the dream of building their first home when they discovered the Everleigh community in Greenbank.
After a six month search for the perfect place to raise their two children, Riley (7) and Aaliyah (4), the couple knew instantly they had found 'home'.
"We searched for land in so many communities in the area before checking out Everleigh," says Belinda.
"We spoke to Chris in the sales centre, who was amazing, and drove through the community, then headed across the road to Greenbank Shopping Centre for lunch.
"It was just Shaun and I. We sat down, talked about it and decided then and there it was perfect. We went straight back and put down the deposit - it just felt so right."
Belinda and Shaun settled on their 493sqm lot in April, with construction starting mid-May on their four bedroom, two bathroom, double garage home, with a pool, which they are building with Stylemaster.
The first home buyers have been renting nearby in Springfield Lakes and say the new location is ideal.
"Both the kids go to school about eight minutes away and I work not much further away, so it is all on the way," says Belinda.
"We just love everything about the community and can't wait to live there.
"We thought it was really good value for money, when you consider the variety of lots available to suit different needs, the quality of the houses being built and all the community amenities being delivered, like parks and retail. We love walking around the estate.
"There are so many great community activities and events put on by Everleigh, and we've been to everything we can since we first stopped by in October.
"I have already met a few other residents through these activities and they are all really nice."
Belinda says the icing on the cake was finding one of her good friends was also set to become her neighbour.
"They just got in and started one month before us and I didn't even know until they shared a post of their new land, and I realised it was straight across the road from us," she says.
"We also have a new park going in diagonally across the road from our home, which is so exciting and will be perfect for the kids.
"We see ourselves being part of the Everleigh community for a long time."
